GET Group, a world leader in Identity Management Solutions, has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society of Ecuador, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the issuance of digital driver's licenses with ISO standards. This initiative will provide Ecuadorian citizens with enhanced security, convenience, and efficiency in accessing various services while digitizing transactions.
The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society of Ecuador, responsible for implementing the Digital Transformation Agenda 2022 – 2025, recognizes digital identity as a universal tool for citizens to authenticate themselves in the digital environment for transactions in both public and private sectors. Currently, Ecuadorians have a digital driver's license for local use, which cannot serve as identification abroad. The new ISO-compliant digital license will open opportunities for Ecuadorians both nationally and internationally.
Commenting on the agreement, Joshua M. Mármol, Managing Director of GET Group said, “We are proud to partner with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society of Ecuador in this groundbreaking initiative. The issuance of ISO-compliant digital driver's licenses not only enhances security and efficiency for Ecuadorian citizens but also positions Ecuador as a leader in digital transformation in the region. This agreement reinforces our commitment to providing innovative solutions that improve the quality of life for all citizens, whether at home or abroad.”
This agreement underscores GET Group's ongoing commitment as a strategic partner to the Ministry of Telecommunications and the National Transit Agency of Ecuador, fostering innovation and modernization of services for citizens through state-of-the-art digital identification solutions. Consequently, Ecuador is positioned as one of the first countries in the region to adopt ISO digital driver's licenses. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility welcomes this agreement, as it aligns with the digital transformation agenda for the welfare of citizens living abroad.
